Tips on Planting Blackcurrants in Your Garden

By David Uriah

Each year, in February, hoof and horn meal should be applied at the rate of about 3 oz. to the sq. yard. This is distributed over the straw and is allowed to wash in. On very light land, likely to be low in potash, wood ashes may be applied at lb. to the sq. yard, or a natural form of sulphate of potash at 2 oz. to the sq. yard. The potash dressing would only be necessary once every three or four years.

Capsid bugs puncture the leaves and shoots, causing the former to be spotted and the latter to be injured. In cases of very bad attack, the top leaves turn a yellowish hue. Prevent this trouble by spraying in February with a D.N.C. and omit the tar oil this season.

Big buds are caused by miniature mites which cause the fruiting buds to swell to a large size. They are thus easily recognizable. Spray when the majority of the leaves are the size of a two-shilling piece, dissolving 1 pint of lime sulphur in 14 pints of water.

It is better not to cultivate in between blackcurrant bushes. I had tried grassing down in contrast to strawing. The disadvantage of this system is that the grass has to be cut fourteen or fifteen times during the summer and autumn and this makes extra work.

If the stems of the blackcurrant bushes suddenly wilt, the blackcurrant shoot moth caterpillar must be suspected. A tunnel will be found in the centre of the shoot made by a small caterpillar. The only way to get rid of this pest is to cut all the branches down to within an inch of ground level, in the spring, and so to sacrifice the crop for one year.

These insects hate having to fly from bush to bush when they are planted at distances of 5 to 6 feet, and, in fact, they will not do so in windy weather. The `hedge' method, therefore, encourages better fertilization and thus heavier yields.

The Strip or Downtown in Vegas

By William Linch

I went to Las Vegas just last week. I went with the goal to find out for my readers which was the best value, the strip or downtown. I stayed 2 nights at each and took part in activities on both. I easily decided that down town Las Vegas is a much better value than the strip. It is cheaper, has more history, pays better to gamblers and you can still easily make a trip to the strip.

Considering you are not going to Vegas to hang out in your hotel room, the downtown area is perfect. The rooms are not the luxury type rooms you will get on the strip, however they are cheap. Prices usually start at about eighteen bucks a night. Besides the buildings down there are a part of history!

Each building has a histroy in downtown Vegas. It was the highlight of my trip to go into all these old buildings and just look around. The buildings have old features such as incredible wood finishes, and features. The setup of the casino's is so different than that of the strip. I will admit they are not the most classy rooms like you will find on the strip, but I liked them anyway.

The meals are so cheap. We stayed two nights on the strip and two nights downtown. On the strip I ate at what I thought was a horrible restaurant for $90 per person. We then went downtown, and one night I had prime rib which was excellent for under ten bucks. We even had steak and eggs which was also excellent for just $4 per person!

We gambled downtown and thought it was a blast. First of all the slots pay more downtown than on the strip. I was teaching my girl how to play blackjack which is my game at the casino. The dealers were even helping her learn, telling her which move to make, etc. On the strip they wouldnt have said a word to her. I was even talking for an hour or two to a pit boss getting tips. Try doing that on the strip.

If you want to go to the strip still, it really isn't hard. You can get a bus pass for a bus that goes from downtown to the strip for about seven bucks a day. So that way you can still go to shows and the luxury hotels. A cab ride from downtown to the strip is about $20.

The conclusion for me is to stay downtown. You save so much money, and still have perfect access to the strip. This way you can spend your money on activities instead of luxury.

Dubai is in the midst of the desert, so what could be better than enjoying the sandy surrounds. Here the desert is nothing like what we hear about and see in stories. Instead of being boring, barren, and painful, the Arabs have turned their desert into an attraction for visitors. One can take the 4x4 and roam around the desert in the modern mode of transportation, or even go sand boarding, which is one of the main attractions of this area.

The Dubai Museum few of the interesting place to spend your afternoon; it would take just a while to visit the complete museum as it is not very large. The Museum depicts the history of Dubai, starting from the 1960's, and hence is a good place to visit to gather information about the developmental history of Dubai. Moreover, there are a number of interesting places that are very close to the Museum such as the grand mosque, Bastakia Heritage village, and Dubai Creek, that you can visit.

The afternoons in Dubai could be very hot, and for this purpose there is no place better than Ski Dubai. It is claimed to be the biggest indoor ski resort in the world, so when it comes to indoor skiing there is nothing better than Ski Dubai. Ski Dubai is a part of the Mall of Emirates, and is therefore is a perfect place to discover after shopping in the mall. Even though nothing beats skiing out in the wild slopes of the great mountains, this indoor ski facility is quite amazing, bearing in mind that snow is not possible in Dubai!

If one wishes for an aerial view of Dubai, then Seawings is considered to be an excellent ride for the purpose. There is no such thing in the world like seeing Dubai from above. The staff and facilities offered are of a high standard, and this golf course is on the highly recommended golf courses list in all of Dubai's tourism guides.

The hot sun can take the fun out of tourism and drag the energy right out of your body, but Wild Wadi Water Park in Dubai is just the right cure for such fatigue. The water park is huge, and offers a lot of attractions perfect for a sunny day. This is an ideal place to spend time with your family as the rides and attractions provide perfect enjoyment, and enable you to make the best out of the trip.

The most spectacular hotel in Dubai is probably the Burj Al-Arab. It is one of the largest and most expensive hotels in Dubai, but the expense is worth the experience. The hotel is definitely well managed, and provides each and every facility one can dream of. It is surely a benchmark of luxury and style.

How To Enjoy Your Holiday In Rhodes

By Robert M Freeman

Rhodes is one of the well-known Greek Islands, and as a result of its astonishing mixture of history, attractiveness, and beaches, it is one of the most trendy tourist destinations in Greece.

Rhodes has lots to offer. From its sunny beaches to archaeological sites, from its natural beauty to its medieval towns, this is simply a tourist heaven. Many of the islands beaches are gravel and not sand, but the island has over three hundred sunny days in a year. Because of this, you will find beach related activities at every corner of the island. Along with this you will also find many rental shops and quality restaurants on the island.

You can sunbathe, swim, snorkel, or scuba dive on the island. If you don't know how to scuba dive, it is extremely simple to sign up for lessons. Not only this, but you can lease these equipments from any one of the stores as well. Scuba diving is a very pleasing pastime in case you are looking to get away from the heat and just want to spend the day around water. Surfing and kite surfing are also well-liked activities on the west coast of the island where the beaches are stony. The eastern beaches are incredibly sandy with constant beaches along the coastline.

Sites on the island include the famous Filerimos Hills which used to be a monastery and chapel in medieval times. From here you can have excellent views of the island. Another site to visit is Kamiros which is also one of the ancient ruins. You can also visit the Castle with acropolis over Lindos which is well worth the visit if you are looking for something historical to please your nerves.

Tsambika Peak is an additional trendy tourist site on the island. In addition to this, you should go into Rhodes city and tour the old town, and while there go see the Palace of the Prince Grand Master. A different tourist attraction in the old city is the Street of Knights. You can also stroll through town and spot the very old fortifications from varying locations.

The Valley of the Butterflies is not as great a tourist attraction as it used to be as a result of the jump in number of people there has badly affected the butterfly population in modern times. These butterflies are called Petaloudes, and are not colored unlike nearly all common butterflies.

While in Rhodes, you can also climb Mt. Attavyros which necessitates approximately two hours of hiking, and is certainly fairly demanding. Follow the rocks that have red paints on them for the finest path, but look out for loose rocks as well. It is incredibly difficult on the descent, so make sure you wear powerful non-slippery shoes and hike with friends.

The Epta Piges is an enjoyable location to go see in the summers owing to the cool shade that the trees give nevertheless there is not much to see here apart from seven springs, after which it is in fact named. However if you are the hiking sort, this place may attract you a lot. Cape Prasonisi is the southernmost point on the island and is a peninsula that is linked to the main island by a sand bar.

Rhodes is a great island to visit if you are looking for sun and sand and lots of Mediterranean food for your vacation. Due to Greeces popularity with tourists you may find it a bit crowded, but if you are not afraid of crowds then this is a great place for a vacation.

Information About Booking A FLight

By Peter Wilson

If you're thinking about booking your next trip through a travel broker, you should understand what they can do for you and how they operate. Travel brokers buy seats on upcoming flight in bulk and sell them to people who want to save money on those flights. In order to make money, they have to sell the tickets quickly. While an airline may include booking fees and others costs when you buy tickets from them, they will usually wave these fees for brokers because they are buying so many tickets. This is one of the reasons why tickets are sold for less.

When looking for a reputable travel broker, you should conduct research online or use one of the more reputable companies who have a proven track record of saving people money. Unfortunately, there aren't too many rules when it comes to selling airline tickets for a discount rate. If you decide to buy tickets from a lesser known company or one that is new, you may lose your money and not get the seats you wanted. This can be a problem, but as long as you research companies beforehand, you should be fine. Even though travel brokers can save you money, your travel agent may be able to save you even more.

Depending on where you are going, from Greece to El Campello, Spain, you may be able to save money and have the peace of mind that your tickets will be delivered and you will get the seats your want. While travel agents also buy tickets in bulk, they are licensed by the governments and must adhere to certain rules or they can lose their license.

Before using a travel broker, look for other ways to save money as well. You may be able to save by simply changing your plans and flying during the week instead of on the weekend. You may also be able to take a later flight and save even more money. When renting a car, rent one for the week in order to save money on weekday rental costs. Research restaurants in the area to see where the best deals of the day can be found. This will allow you to budget your food expenses. If staying in a resort, see if any of the meals are provided. This will also save you in food costs. If staying in a hotel, find one that offers a continental breakfast.

By finding ways to cut costs during your travels, you may not need to go through a travel broker. But if you need to book a vacation quickly, then a travel broker may be your only option. Make sure that you research the broker so you don't end up losing even more money in case you need to cancel or reschedule your vacation.

Saving money when traveling is everyone's goal, but sometimes you will just have to pay for good service. This is important when booking flights and arranging your vacation. In the end, you will have a much better time.
